The romantic idea of gently strolling barefoot across a pleasantly warm, sandy beach to go diving rarely happens. In reality you can end up scampering over sand that is so hot it is painful, or it is just unpleasantly clammy and cool underfoot.

Beaches are also not necessarily a picturesque stretch of sand. They can comprise of pebbles, stones, rocks or an iron shore. (When limestone dissolves the material left can be quite rough and sharp, therefore it is called an 'iron shore').

In cooler climes we will either wear drysuits or neoprene boots to protect our feet when we are shore diving. But what is the option for our feet in a more balmy destination when you don't require a bigger bulkier boot? One solution is a pair of booties, and these can range from a basic beach shoe to a technical boot for those into their watersports.

Fourth Element's contribution is called the 'Rock Hopper' and they state this shoe is lightweight and comfy. The boot does have an ergonomic footbed - not all booties do. It also has a reinforced heel, and the 3mm stretch neoprene bootie is lined with OceanPositive fabric, made from recycled plastic bottles. The Rock Hopper has a Smoothskin ankle seal that minimizes water movement and helps to keep the shoe in place whether walking, climbing or finning.
