Dryfob Releases Waterproof Car Key Container for Scuba Diving

Posted in:

Dryfob introduced its waterproof car key container for scuba diving at the recent Diving Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA) convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Machined out of anodized aluminum with a dual O-ring seal and IPx8 rated to 130 ft (40m), the Dryfob waterproof container allows scuba divers to safely carry their electronic car key fobs with them underwater.

Small enough to be stowed in a BC pocket, the Dryfob also has multiple attach points and can be secured with a lanyard, bungee, or clip. It is neutrally buoyant and has an interior measuring 1.65” x 3.75” (95mm by 42mm) to accommodate all standard car key fobs.

Nathalie Martel, inventor and founder of Dryfob and a master scuba diver herself, came up with the idea as a solution to storing her keys while shore diving. “Over the course of the pandemic, we started doing a lot of shore diving and never knew what to do with our electronic car key,” said Nathalie. “Hiding it in the bushes or leaving the car doors unlocked just didn’t seem like a good idea.

For a while, we kept our key attached to our buoy but one time the rope broke. We couldn’t find anything we felt confident taking underwater with us to any depth, so we made our own. When fellow divers saw the prototype, they wanted one, and we developed it into a product to address this need.

Having my car key with me is one less thing to worry about while underwater, making the dive that much more enjoyable. We hope that divers everywhere will find Dryfob to be a must-have item.”

The patent pending Dryfob waterproof car key container retails for $49.99 and is available from a growing list of dive shops. It can also be purchased directly from www.dryfob.com
